the works of jonathan blackbow

"i see his armor and his standard there"

The martial culture of the SCA is one of its most defining aspects - honorable combat between noble combatants is a topic of interest for those preferring either a romanticized or an historical take on the Middle Ages. Hand-in-hand with that idea is the realization of such combat on an epic scale, such as at the Pennsic War each August. Jonathan's imagery is as vivid in its depiction of battle as it is in its examination of the mindset one has to assume in regards to war - both as a combatant within the SCA and as someone deeply interested in medieval history and culture.
