Tears

Poem (Canso):

I met you and suffered
And mostly in silence
The drops of your self-worth
Fell round you like blood

Alone and unwanted
You suffered in silence
Since no one would listen
Or comfort your fears.

And I watched
Through the tears
In my eyes.

And then the dark lifted
You fell into my arms
With someone in your life
To help stem the flood

Of feeling unwanted
Grown up, ugly duckling
Somebody there for you
To silence the fears

And I watch
Through the tears
In my eyes.

The first tears were painful
The next, ones of joy
And mixed along with them
A few tears of love.

You can’t love this deeply
Without causing some pain
But even so, dear one
We’ll love us for years.

And I’ll watch
Through the tears love
In my eyes.
