Somebody's Got to Stay Home

Poem (Canso):

Doesn’t matter where we go or whose field we take
Or wherever, whenever we roam
Or the wars that we win or the ass that we kick
Somebody has got to stay home
Privateers and the fencers sail this way and that
Sail to and fro over the foam
Doesn’t matter the ships that they catch or they sink
Somebody has got to stay home.
Could be Crown, could be WOW, could be Gulf, could be Pennsic
Could be all of us, or one all alone,
But wherever we go and whatever we do
Somebody has got to stay home.
Could be swords, could be shields, could be spears, could be bows
Could be arts or the sciences though,
Doesn’t matter the task, doesn’t matter the royals
Somebody has got to stay home.
Through the wind or the rain or Gulfnado again,
Through Serengeti or soft loam
Through Meridies or An Tir or the East or the Mid,
Somebody has got to stay home.
‘Cause when we come back dripping sweat and bone tired
From winning and days on the road,
We come back to soft beds and our laundry’s all done
Because Somebody said they’d stay home.
