Single warrior standing
Silent on a hillside
Veteran stands as victor
Viking on this hilltop.

Vanquished are his victims
In this Viking vision
Stands he still and lonely
Fought he still his hardest.

Fought he for his family
Family in his village
See their sire seldom
Several of his children.

Fought he all his foemen
Fought to guard his kinfolk
Safe in village they stay
Grateful for his service.

Age and ages later
Veterans also standing
Ever guard they always
All they call civilians.
