After All, What Is a Rainbow

Poem (Canso):

I’m driving towards a rainbow
Seems apropos to me
Between the darkness and the light
Is where a rainbow should be.

I’ve driven towards a rainbow before
Seems apropos to me
Most times the rainbow disappears
Before it gets to me.

some people think that shades of gray
stand between the dark and light
I think the only thing gray shows
Is the approach of another night.

What is a rainbow, after all?
It’s not just another light
That’s fractured into its smallest piece
And put in human sight.

So many people think it’s more
I know now what they see
I used to think it was just some light
Reflected back at me.

One thing’s for sure; drive through a storm
And look around. To me
It usually looks the worst ahead
Till the rainbow’s edge you see.

And any fool can drive right through
A gorgeous, sunny day
But without the dark there can be no light
Or so the poets say.

Some rainbows look so nice and bright
The only thing left to see
Is whether it looks as bright to you
As it does now to me.

I’m driving through a rainbow now
Seems apropos to me
Between the light and the perfect storm
Is where I ought to be.
